Countries Getting It First
The September 18 group included the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Japan, India, Australia, China, Mexico, Brazil, South Korea, and the UAE, among others. If your country isn’t on that list, check Apple’s site for the local date.
Good to know: Some models are eSIM-only. Apple says eSIM-only versions are sold in the US, Canada, Japan, Mexico, the UAE, and a few other places. Check your carrier before you buy.
iPhone 18 Pro Price by Storage

The iPhone 18 Pro price went up by $100 compared with last year. That is the first thing most buyers notice.
US Price From 256GB to 2TB
Every storage size starts higher than the iPhone 17 Pro did at launch. The 256GB iPhone 18 Pro launched at $1,199, versus $1,099 for the 17 Pro, and the 512GB model costs $1,399 versus $1,299.
| Model | Storage | US price |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone 18 Pro | 256GB | $1,199 |
| iPhone 18 Pro | 512GB | $1,399 |
| iPhone 18 Pro Max | 256GB | $1,299 |
| iPhone 18 Pro Max | 2TB | $1,999 |
Apple also sells 1TB and 2TB versions of both phones. Prices for those tiers can vary by store, so check the Apple Store before you decide.
Monthly payments: Apple lists the iPhone 18 Pro from $49.95 a month for 24 months. The Pro Max starts at $54.12 a month for the same term, with Apple Card Monthly Installments.
Tip: The 256GB model is enough for most people. You can also free up room with iCloud. If your cloud space is full, see our fix for iCloud storage full.
iPhone 18 Pro Price in India, the UK and Other Regions
Prices change by country because of taxes and exchange rates. Here are the base prices reported at launch:
| Storage | iPhone 18 Pro (India) | iPhone 18 Pro Max (India) | iPhone 18 Pro (UK) | iPhone 18 Pro Max (UK) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 256GB | ₹1,64,900 | ₹1,79,900 | £1,199 | £1,299 |
| 512GB | ₹1,89,900 | ₹2,04,900 | £1,399 | £1,499 |
In India, the iPhone 18 Pro costs roughly ₹30,000 more than the iPhone 17 Pro did. Regional prices come from Business Today’s global price comparison. Always confirm the final price on your local Apple page.
Trade-In, Carrier Deals and Monthly Payments
You may not need to pay full price. Apple lists these ways to save:
- Apple Trade In: If you trade in an iPhone 13 or newer, you can get $175 to $885 in instant credit. Learn more at Apple Trade In.
- Carrier deals: Some carriers offer up to $1,200 in credits when you trade in an iPhone 14 or newer. See Apple’s carrier offers for the rules.
- Apple Upgrade (leasing): Apple advertises plans from as low as $34.99 a month for 24 months. Your actual payment depends on the model you pick, and it excludes taxes and trade-in credit.
- Apple One: New and returning subscribers get three months free with a new iPhone 18 Pro, in select countries.
Warning: Carrier deals often spread credits over 36 months. If you leave early, you may lose the rest of the credit. Read the fine print first.
Want to spend less? A refurbished iPhone from last year can save you a lot.
iPhone 18 Pro Colors

Apple sells the iPhone 18 Pro in four colors: black, silver, glacier, and burgundy.
Burgundy, Glacier, Silver and Black Compared
Burgundy is the new one. Apple calls it an all-new finish. Telecom coverage also notes that last year’s iPhone 17 Pro was not offered in black or burgundy.
| Color | Good for | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Burgundy | Standing out from last year’s phones | Newest color, so cases match it well |
| Black | A classic look that hides wear | Easy to confuse with older phones |
| Silver | A clean, bright look | May show smudges more |
| Glacier | A softer, cooler tone | Look at it in person if you can |
People search for the iPhone 18 Pro burgundy and glacier finishes the most. Those two draw more interest than silver or black.
Which Color Should You Choose?
Use this quick guide:
- You use a case all day: Pick the color you like best. You will rarely see the phone itself.
- You want a safe, neutral look: Black or silver goes with almost any case or accessory.
- You want a fresh look: Choose burgundy.
Apple also made matching cases. The Silicone Case and Clear Case with MagSafe cost $49 each. The TechWoven Case costs $59. For more ideas, browse our iPhone case reviews and our screen protector guide.
iPhone 18 Pro Specs

The iPhone 18 Pro specs look familiar on the outside. The big changes are inside. Let’s go one part at a time.
Display and Design
The phone keeps the aluminum body and large camera bar from the iPhone 17 Pro. You get a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED screen at 2622 by 1206 pixels and 120Hz ProMotion. It also has an Always-On display and a Ceramic Shield 2 front.
Here are the exact size numbers:
- Height: 150.0 mm
- Width: 71.9 mm
- Thickness: 8.75 mm
- Weight: 211 grams
The big visual change is the Dynamic Island. It is smaller now. Apple says it can show up to three Live Activities at once, while still unlocking your phone with Face ID.
Heads up: The iPhone 18 Pro is a bit heavier than last year’s. A review from Herald Corp says it is about 7 grams heavier and 0.4 mm thicker than the iPhone 17 Pro. You may notice that if you hold your phone for long periods.
A20 Pro Chip and Cooling
The iPhone 18 Pro uses the new A20 Pro chip, built on a 2-nanometer process. Apple says:
- The GPU is up to 40% faster than the A19 Pro.
- Memory bandwidth is 50% higher.
- The Neural Engine has two 16-core parts, for 32 cores in total.
Apple also redesigned the cooling system. The new vapor chamber has three times the surface area of the one in the iPhone 17 Pro. Apple says that gives up to a 40% gain in sustained performance. In plain terms, your phone can run games and video apps at full speed for longer before it slows down.
Expert note: Apple’s marketing chief called it “the best Pro iPhone we’ve ever made.” That is Apple’s own claim, so treat it as marketing. Independent reviews are more measured, as you’ll see below.
Camera and Variable Aperture
The headline feature is the variable aperture on the 48MP Fusion Main camera. An aperture is the opening that lets light into the lens. A wide opening lets in more light. A narrow one keeps more of the scene sharp.
Apple’s camera uses six tiny blades to change the opening. Here is how it helps:
- Low light: It can open wide, to Æ’/1.48, for brighter night shots.
- Portraits: It uses Æ’/1.8 for a nice balance of light and blur.
- Group photos: It can narrow to Æ’/4 so more people stay in focus.
By comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro’s main camera stays fixed at Æ’/1.78.
You also get new Pro controls in the Camera app. They let you set aperture, shutter speed, and white balance by hand, and view a histogram. Apple says developers get an API to control aperture in their own apps.
Other camera facts:
- Rear cameras: 48MP Main, 48MP Ultra Wide, and 48MP Telephoto.
- Zoom: A 12MP optical-quality 8x telephoto mode.
- Front camera: 18MP Center Stage.
- New Photographic Styles: Texture and grain controls.
- Cinematic video: You can add the effect after you shoot, at up to 60 fps.
One review roundup noted that Apple left out manual ISO control. If you want full manual settings like a pro camera, keep that in mind.
Apple Reference Image is another new feature. When you shoot in Reference mode, the phone saves signed sensor data. Later, you can compare the original with an edited copy to see if it was changed. This feature is opt-in. Apple says it is not available in China at launch, and EU capture is not available at launch either.

Battery Life and Charging
Battery life is one of the best upgrades this year. Apple’s numbers for eSIM-only models are:
| Model | Video playback (Apple’s estimate) |
|---|---|
| iPhone 18 Pro | Up to 36 hours |
| iPhone 18 Pro Max | Up to 45 hours |
Apple rates the US eSIM-only iPhone 18 Pro at up to 36 hours of video, compared with 33 hours for the 17 Pro. Real-life results will vary. PhoneArena’s review says the battery is a standout, even without a big jump in battery size, and credits the efficient new 2nm chip.
Charging is faster, too. Apple says you can charge to 50% in about 15 minutes with a wired charger. Wireless charging reaches 50% in about 30 minutes. On the Pro Max, five minutes of wired charging gives about seven hours of video.
Note: For the fastest wired speed, you need a 60W-capable USB-C cable and a compatible adapter. The 40W Apple adapter was used in Apple’s tests. Most older chargers will be slower.
Once you own the phone, use our guide to check battery health on iPhone to track wear over time.
Connectivity and eSIM
Both phones use Apple’s N1 wireless chip. It supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. The new C2 modem handles cellular. Apple says it gives faster uploads than the previous modem and uses 15% less energy. In the US, it also supports mmWave 5G.
If you buy an eSIM-only model, you don’t have a SIM tray. Your carrier gives you a digital plan instead. Apple says more than 500 carriers worldwide support eSIM. You can learn how it works on Apple’s eSIM support page.
Warning: Before switching, ask your carrier how to move your number to an eSIM. Do not erase your old phone until the new one has service.
iOS 27 and Siri AI on iPhone 18 Pro

Your iPhone 18 Pro ships with iOS 27. That update arrived on September 14. The star of iOS 27 is Siri AI, a rebuilt version of Siri.
According to Apple, Siri AI can:
- Search across your messages, emails, and photos for what you need
- Understand what is on your screen and act on it
- Chat back and forth in a more natural way
- Work in Siri mode in the Camera app, so you can ask about what you’re looking at
Here are a few limits you should know:
- It is in beta.
- It starts in English. Apple says French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish were due in October.
- It is not available in the EU at first.
- Some server-based features have daily usage limits.
Apple Intelligence also adds photo tools like Spatial Reframing, Extend, and an upgraded Clean Up. Safari gets Notify Me, which tells you when a web page changes, such as a price drop.

iPhone 18 Pro vs iPhone 18 Pro Max

The two phones share the same chip, the same camera ideas, and the same colors. They differ mainly in size, battery, and price.
| Feature | iPhone 18 Pro | iPhone 18 Pro Max |
|---|---|---|
| Starting price | $1,199 | $1,299 |
| Screen | 6.3-inch | 6.9-inch |
| Weight | 211 g | 249 g |
| Video playback (eSIM-only) | Up to 36 hours | Up to 45 hours |
| Best for | One-handed use, pockets | Long battery life, big screen |
Apple says the Pro Max has the biggest battery life gain ever on an iPhone. Reviewers back this up. Gizmodo’s review says the larger phone is almost impossible to drain with two days of moderate use.
Choose the iPhone 18 Pro if you want a phone that feels easier to carry and still lasts a full day. Choose the Pro Max if you watch a lot of video, travel often, or want the biggest screen.
iPhone 18 Pro vs iPhone 17 Pro: Is It Worth Upgrading?

This is the big question. Both phones look almost the same. Here is what changed:
| Feature | iPhone 17 Pro | iPhone 18 Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Starting price (256GB) | $1,099 | $1,199 |
| Chip | A19 Pro | A20 Pro (2nm) |
| Main camera aperture | Fixed Æ’/1.78 | Variable, down to Æ’/1.48 |
| Pro camera controls | Standard | New Pro controls |
| Dynamic Island | Larger | Smaller |
| Weight | 204 g | 211 g |
| Video playback (eSIM-only) | Up to 33 hours | Up to 36 hours |
| Memory | 12GB | 12GB |
What stays the same: The body, the display size, and the front camera are very close. Both phones also run iOS 27 and Siri AI. A comparison from Startech says Apple Intelligence works feature-for-feature on both.
What you gain: A smarter camera, longer battery life, faster charging, and better cooling.
Reviewers mostly agree. BGR says that if you own an iPhone 17 Pro, “you can probably sit this one out.” TechRadar says the improvements are not night and day. But if you hold an iPhone 15 Pro or older, TechRadar calls the leap much more meaningful.
Our advice:
- iPhone 17 Pro owner: Keep your phone, unless you want the new camera.
- iPhone 16 Pro owner: It is a close call. The camera and battery are real upgrades.
- iPhone 15 Pro or older: This is a good time to upgrade.
- Non-Pro iPhone owner: You will see the biggest jump in camera and screen.

Known Issues Since Launch
No new phone is perfect. Early reports from users and tech sites include:
- Carrier problems: Some US users reported calls failing or an SOS-only status on AT&T, linked to eSIM setup. AppleInsider covered the report.
- Face ID restart bug: A failed Face ID attempt may freeze the phone and restart it. 9to5Mac reported that Apple confirmed a software fix.
- Display lines: A few isolated reports of colored lines. This has not been confirmed as a widespread hardware problem.
What to do: Update to the latest iOS first. If your phone acts up, try a restart. Our guide on how to reset your iPhone walks you through the steps from gentle to full reset.
These reports involve a small number of users. Check Apple Support for the latest status before you assume the worst.
